Indication

The medicine contains the active ingredient ivermectin. This medicine is used to treat certain parasitic infections.
These include:
an infection caused by skin mites (scabies). The infection occurs when tiny skin mites dig tunnels under the surface of the skin. This can cause severe itching. The preparation should only be taken if your doctor has diagnosed you with scabies or suspects that you have scabies.
an intestinal infection called intestinal strongyloidiasis (anguillulosis). This is caused by the roundworm Strongyloides stercoralis.
an infection in the blood called microfilaremia, caused by lymphatic filariasis. Lymphatic filariasis is caused by immature stages of the worm Wuchereria bancrofti. The medicine is not effective against adult worms, only against immature ones.
The medicine cannot prevent the occurrence of such infections. It is also not effective against adult worms.
It should only be taken if your doctor has diagnosed you with a parasitic infection or suspects that you have a parasitic infection.

Contraindication

The medicine must not be taken
if you are allergic to ivermectin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction to a medicine may include rash, difficulty breathing, or fever;
if you have ever had a severe skin rash or peeling skin, blistering and/or mouth sores after using ivermectin.
If these statements apply to you, you must not take this medicine. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Treatment of scabies in humans
The dose is 200 micrograms per kilogram of body weight.
Whether the treatment was successful can only be seen after 4 weeks.
Your doctor may give you a second dose in 8 to 15 days.
What else should you consider when being treated for scabies?
Anyone who comes into contact with you — especially family members and partners — should see a doctor as soon as possible. The doctor will decide whether they should also be treated. If infected people you come into contact with are not also treated immediately, there is a risk that they will reinfect you with scabies.
Please follow hygienic measures to avoid reinfection (ie keep fingernails short and clean). Please also follow official recommendations for cleaning clothes and bedding.
Treatment of gastrointestinal strongyloidiasis (anguillulosis)
The recommended dosage is 200 micrograms of ivermectin per kg of body weight, taken as a single dose.

Treatment of microfilaremia (lymphatic filariasis) caused by Wuchereria bancrofti
The recommended dosage for mass treatment of microfilaremia (lymphatic filariasis) caused by Wuchereria bancrofti is approximately 150 to 200 micrograms of ivermectin per kg of body weight as a single oral dose at 6-month intervals.
In areas where the disease is persistently concentrated in a limited region or a specific population group (endemic areas) and where the medicine can be given only once every 12 months, the recommended dosage is 300 to 400 micrograms per kg of body weight to achieve adequate suppression of microfilaraemia in the treated patients.

If you have taken more than you should
Take exactly the dose of this medicine that your doctor has prescribed. Some people have experienced loss of consciousness or coma after taking too much of this medicine.
If you take too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take it
Always take this medicine as your doctor has told you. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
