Indication

  This medicine contains progesterone, a natural sex hormone produced in the female body. This medicine helps to adjust the hormonal balance in the body. This medicine is a treatment with a corpus luteum hormone (progestogen).
What is it used for
It is used to treat symptoms caused by a lack of progesterone in the body. Your doctor may recommend that you take this medicine in the following situations:
a) in case of progesterone deficiency
If progesterone produced by the ovaries (in the corpus luteum phase in the 2nd half of the cycle) is below normal. This medicine should be used in this case:
to treat irregularities in your menstrual period
b) if your period stops permanently (after menopause)
Additional therapy as part of estrogen treatment during menopause in women with a functioning uterus

Contraindication

The medicine must not be taken
if you have vaginal bleeding with an unknown cause,
if you are allergic to progesterone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
if you have severe liver problems,
if you have a liver tumor,
if you have or are suspected of having a malignant tumor of the breast or genitals,
if you have or have had a blood clot in a vein (thrombosis), for example in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or in the lungs (pulmonary embolism),
in cerebral hemorrhages,
if you suffer from a rare, hereditary blood disease called porphyria.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Taking it for irregular menstrual bleeding
You should take this medicine for 10 days in each cycle, usually from day 17 to day 26 inclusive.
The recommended daily dose is 200 mg to 300 mg of progesterone. This dose can be taken as a single dose or as two divided doses, e.g. 200 mg in the evening before going to bed and, if necessary, an additional 100 mg in the morning.
Taking it for post-menopausal treatment
For postmenopausal women who still have a uterus, it is not recommended to take estrogens alone.
A single dose of 200 mg progesterone should also be taken in the evening before going to bed for at least 12 to 14 days per month (in the last two weeks of the respective treatment cycle).
This is followed by approximately one week without hormone replacement treatment, during which withdrawal bleeding may occur.
If you have taken more than you should
Contact your doctor immediately.
If you overdose, you may experience symptoms such as dizziness, tiredness, malaise or painful periods. In this case, the dose may be reduced. Ask your doctor for advice.
If you forget to take it
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is near your next dose, skip the missed dose.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you stop taking it
Your doctor will tell you how long to take this medicine.
Do not stop your treatment prematurely.
