Directions
Tantum Verdedol is useful in the symptomatic treatment of irritant-inflammatory conditions also associated with pain in the oropharynx (eg, gingivitis, stomatitis, pharyngitis).
Method of administration and dosage
Adverse effects can be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms.
Adults and children over 12 years: 1 lozenge, slowly dissolve in the mouth every 3-6 hours as needed.
Elderly: No dosage adjustment is required.
Do not exceed 8 lozenges in 24 hours. Do not give to children under 12 years.
Warnings
When the recommended doses are observed, when using the drug in various dosage forms, ingestion does not cause harm to the patient, since the dose of flurbiprofen is significantly lower than that usually used in systemic treatment. Use of the product, especially long-term, can cause sensitization or local irritation; In such cases, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted to prescribe, if necessary, appropriate therapy. Patients with renal, cardiac or hepatic insufficiency should use the drug with caution. It is not recommended to combine the drug with other NSAIDs. Cases of bronchospasm have been reported with the use of flurbiprofen in patients with a history of bronchial asthma.
Effects on the gastrointestinal tract: Flurbiprofen should be prescribed with caution to patients with gastric ulcer and other gastrointestinal diseases in the anamnesis, since these conditions may worsen. The risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation is increased with increasing doses of flurbiprofen in patients with a history of ulceration, particularly if complicated by bleeding and perforation, and in the elderly. These patients should be started on the lowest available dose. Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation have been reported at any time during treatment with all NSAIDs. These adverse events can be fatal and may occur with or without warning symptoms and in patients with a history of serious gastrointestinal disease. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly the elderly, should be advised to report any unusual abdominal symptoms (especially gastrointestinal bleeding) early in the course of treatment. Elderly patients are more likely to experience adverse reactions to NSAIDs, particularly gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation, which may be fatal. Undesirable effects may be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.
For further information, read all the information contained in the package leaflet carefully.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
During the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, flurbiprofen should not be prescribed unless absolutely necessary. Medicines taken during pregnancy may delay the onset of labor and prolong its duration. Prescribing flurbiprofen to breastfeeding mothers is not recommended.”
