Product description
Aviorexan is a combination drug containing two active substances: dimenhydramine and caffeine . Dimenhydramine belongs to the group of antihistamines. Caffeine has a stimulating effect on the nervous system. Both substances reduce the symptoms of motion sickness. Additionally, caffeine alleviates the sedative effect of dimenhydramine.
The onset of action occurs after 15 – 30 minutes. Therapeutic effects are observed for 3 to 6 hours after administration of the drug.
Composition
active substance: dimenhydramine, caffeine; other ingredients: tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone Type A, povidone K 29/32, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, tablet coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, talc
Use
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: the recommended dose is 1-2 tablets. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water or milk.
If necessary, the dose can be repeated after 4-6 hours.
The dose should not exceed 8 tablets per day.
For the prevention of motion sickness symptoms, the first dose should be taken no later than 30 minutes before the planned journey.
Caution should be exercised in patients with impaired liver and/or kidney function and in elderly patients.
Contraindications
- are allergic to dimenhydrinate, caffeine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- porphyria,
- acute asthma attack,
- severe cardiovascular disorders,
- uncontrolled hypertension,
- insomnia and anxiety,
- epilepsy,
- stomach and/or duodenal ulcers,
- severe liver disorders,
- narrow-angle glaucoma,
- pheochromocytoma of the adrenal gland.
