What is DERMESTRIL-Septem and what is it used for?
DERMESTRIL-Septem is hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It contains 17-ß-estradiol. DERMESTRIL-Septem is used in postmenopausal women whose last natural period was at least 6 months ago.

DERMESTRIL-Septem is used for the following purposes:
Relief of symptoms that occur after the menopause
During the menopause, the amount of estrogen produced by the woman’s body decreases. This can lead to symptoms such as a feeling of warmth in the face, neck and chest (hot flushes). DERMEST-RIL-Septem relieves these symptoms after the menopause. DERMESTRIL-Septem will only be prescribed to you if your symptoms significantly affect your everyday life.

How should DERMESTRIL-Septem be used?
Always use DERMESTRIL-Septem exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

DERMESTRIL-Septem is available in three strengths:

DERMESTRIL-Septem 25, 50 and 75 micrograms/24 hours. Your doctor will decide which dose is most suitable for you, although most women start with the DERMESTRIL-Septem 25 patch. Your doctor may adjust the dose to suit your individual needs during treatment. This will depend on how effective the treatment is and whether you are suffering from side effects. To start and continue treatment, your doctor will prescribe the lowest possible dose of the patch for the shortest possible time to treat your symptoms. Talk to your doctor if you think the dose is too strong or not strong enough.

During the first few months of treatment, you may experience bleeding or drops of blood (spotting). If you continue to have breakthrough bleeding or spotting, or if this bleeding continues after treatment has stopped, please contact your doctor.
