Product description
The indications for the use of the drug are conditions of increased demand for calcium in the body and conditions of calcium deficiency in the body.
Composition
The active substance of the drug is: calcium gluconate. One tablet contains 45 mg of calcium ions in the form of 500 mg of calcium gluconate.
Other ingredients are: potato starch, talc, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type C), magnesium stearate.
Dosage
Orally: 1 to 2 tablets 4 times a day. The drug should be taken after a meal, with water.
Action
Calcium reduces the permeability of blood vessel walls, thanks to which it has anti-exudative, anti-edematous and anti-allergic effects. Stimulates the body’s defense mechanisms. Calcium deficiency leads to neuromuscular disorders and bone demineralization (decalcification of the bone leading to its softening).
Indications
- states of increased demand for calcium (e.g. during periods of intensive growth in children and adolescents, during pregnancy, breastfeeding and during recovery from illness);
- states of calcium deficiency in the body (e.g. due to absorption disorders, increased deposition of calcium in bone tissue);
- treatment of osteoporosis of various origins (also preventively);
- tetany (a disease caused by a decrease in the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the blood; symptoms include: painful muscle spasms, tingling and numbness in the fingers or toes);
- as a supportive treatment for allergic diseases (including urticaria, bronchial asthma, angioedema);
- as a support in the treatment of inflammatory conditions (e.g. in diseases of the respiratory tract, throat);
- supportive in bone fractures, bone demineralization.
Contraindications
When not to use the drug:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcium salts or any of the other ingredients of the medicine;
- if you have high levels of calcium in your blood (hypercalcaemia), e.g. due to overactive parathyroid glands, too much vitamin D in your body (hypervitaminosis D), myeloma or bone metastases;
- if you have severe hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the urine);
- if you have kidney failure, as there is a risk of excessive increase in calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcaemia);
- if you are currently taking high doses of vitamin D.
