When not to use the medicine
It cannot be used if any of the points below apply to you. If any of the items below apply to you, you should tell your doctor. Your doctor will then discuss with you which other form of contraception is best for you.
if you are allergic to ethinylestradiol or gestodene or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
if you have (or have had) blood clots in your legs (deep vein thrombosis, DVT), lungs (pulmonary embolism, PE), or any other organ;
if you know you have a bleeding disorder such as protein C deficiency, protein S deficiency, antithrombin III, factor V Leiden or antiphospholipid antibodies deficiency;
if you need surgery or are bedridden for a long time;
if you have ever had a heart attack or stroke;
if you have (or have ever had) angina pectoris (a condition that causes severe chest pain and may be the first sign of a heart attack) or a transient ischemic attack (TIA – temporary symptoms of a stroke);
if you have any of the following conditions, which may increase your risk of a blood clot in your artery:
severe diabetes mellitus with vascular disease
very high blood pressure
very high levels of fats in the blood (cholesterol or triglycerides)
a disease known as hyperhomocysteinemia
if you suffer (or have suffered in the past) from a certain form of migraine (so-called migraine with aura);
with liver diseases:
if you previously or currently suffer from severe liver dysfunction until liver blood counts have returned to normal (including elimination disorders such as Dubin-Johnson and Rotor syndrome);
if you previously had or have had liver tumors (benign or malignant);
if you smoke;
unexplained vaginal bleeding;
if you suspect an existing or previous cancer (such as breast or endometrial) that is affected by sex hormones.
A contraindication may be the presence of a serious risk factor or multiple risk factors for blood clots.
If any of the above diseases or conditions appear for the first time during use, you must stop using the product.
Do not use if you have hepatitis C and are taking medicines containing ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir and dasabuvir (see also the Interactions category).
Femodena dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is 1 tablet per day.
How and when to take a supplement?
The pill must be taken at about the same time each day in the order indicated on the blister pack for 21 consecutive days of withdrawal bleeding, which usually starts 2 to 3 days after the last tablet and may not stop. when you start the next pack.
When do you start taking it?
If you have not taken birth control pills in the past month
Start taking it on the first day of your cycle, which is the first day of your period. If you start taking the pills from days 2 to 5, you should use an additional barrier method of contraception during the first 7 days of taking the pills.
If you switch to this product from another pill (with two hormonal actives), vaginal ring or patch
If you are on pills with your last active pill followed by a no pill break once a month, start the day after your no pill break.
If you have been taking pills whose monthly package contains tablets without active ingredient and also tablets without active ingredient, start taking the next day after taking the last pill without active ingredient.
If you have used a vaginal ring/patch, start the day after your usual no-ring or no-patch interval.
If you are switching from a pill containing only one hormone (yellow body hormone) (called a mini-pill) to this medicine:
You can stop taking the mini-drank any day. Start taking the next day. An additional non-hormonal method of contraception (such as a condom) should be used for the first 7 days.
When switching from an injectable (so-called three-month injection), implant or coil to this drug
Start at the time your next injection would normally be, or on the day your implant or coil is removed.
Use an additional non-hormonal method of contraception for the first 7 days.
