Allergan is an antipruritic agent, i.e. it soothes itching and discomfort resulting from irritation, insect bites and redness of the skin due to excessive sun exposure.
It is used for the topical symptomatic treatment of pruritic dermatitis, solar erythema, insect bites (i.e. to soothe itching and discomfort resulting from irritation, insect bites and redness of the skin due to excessive sun exposure).
Composition
Active ingredients
diphenhydramine hydrochloride 20 mg corresponds to diphenhydramine 17.5 mg, a total of 600 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride corresponds to 525 mg diphenhydramine per 30 g tube
Excipients
stearic acid, glycerin, lanolin, triethanolamine, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, distilled water.
Directions for use and dosage
Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area 2 or 3 times daily.
Warnings
Do not use with occlusive dressings. Use of the product, especially long-term, may cause sensitization (allergic reactions). If this occurs, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
Contraindications
Allergan should not be used in the following cases:
Children under 2 years of age.
Known hypersensitivity to the components and to other antihistamines of similar chemical structure (dimenhydrinate, carbinoxamine maleate).
It is advisable to consult a doctor if these disorders have already occurred.
Side effects
Burning, skin rash, photosensitivity reactions (spots on the skin after sun exposure) have been reported. Compliance with the instructions contained in the package insert reduces the risk of side effects.
These side effects are usually transient. However, if they occur, it is recommended to consult a doctor or pharmacist. It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any side effects not listed in this leaflet. Ask for and fill in the side effects report form available from your pharmacy.
Overdose
No events have been reported following overuse of the drug. In case of accidental ingestion/administration of an excessive dose of Allergan, immediately inform your doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use the drug only if clearly needed and under direct medical supervision.”
