Areas of application
This is an antiallergic medicine that does not cause drowsiness. It helps control an allergic reaction and its symptoms.
The drug relieves the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages caused by allergies, such as hay fever or allergy to house dust mites) in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older. These symptoms include sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy palate, and itchy, red, or watery eyes.
Desloratadine is also used to relieve the symptoms of urticaria (a skin condition caused by allergies). These symptoms include itching and hives.
Improvement in these symptoms lasts throughout the day and helps you resume normal daily activities and sleep.
Dosage
The recommended dosage is one tablet once a day with water, regardless of meals.
Duration of use:
If your allergic rhinitis is intermittent (symptoms occur less than 4 days a week or last less than 4 weeks), your doctor will recommend a treatment regimen based on an assessment of the previous progression of the disease.
If your allergic rhinitis is persistent (symptoms occur 4 or more days a week and last more than 4 weeks), your doctor may recommend a longer treatment.
For urticaria, the duration of treatment may vary from patient to patient. That is why you should follow your doctor’s instructions.
Contraindications
You should not take this medicine
if you are allergic to desloratadine or any other ingredients in this medicine or to loratadine.”
