Fexallegra is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older as a decongestant of the nasal mucosa, i.e. to clear a stuffy nose due to swelling of the nasal mucosa.
The drug is also used in the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever.
Composition
Active ingredients: 1 ml of solution contains: tramazoline hydrochloride 1.18 mg, which corresponds to tramazoline 1.01 mg, chlorpheniramine maleate 5.05 mg, which corresponds to chlorpheniramine 3.55 mg (10 ml contains: tramazoline hydrochloride 11.8 mg, chlorpheniramine maleate 50.5 mg).
Excipients with known action: benzalkonium chloride. For a complete list of excipients, see section 6.1 Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, liquid sorbitol, citric acid, disodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, purified water.
Method of administration and dosage
Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 sprays in each nostril every 8-12 hours. Do not exceed the recommended doses.
Duration of treatment: If there is no complete therapeutic response within a few days, consult a doctor.
In any case, treatment should not be continued for more than 4 days. This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Warnings
Long-term use of topical nasal vasoconstrictors can alter the normal function of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, causing chronic inflammation and atrophy; in addition, it can also cause addiction to the medicine.
When the vasoconstrictive effect of the drug ceases, swelling of the nasal mucosa may occur due to reactive hyperemia.”
