are eye drops used to treat symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, tearing, redness and swelling of the eyelids and conjunctiva. The active substance of the drug is olopatadine, which has an antihistamine effect, soothing allergic reactions caused by allergens such as pollen, dust or animal hair.
The drug is intended for use in adults. It is usually recommended to apply 1 drop to the affected eye twice a day, with a break of at least 8 hours. The treatment duration is up to two weeks, but in some cases, after consulting a doctor, the therapy can be extended to 4 months.
- Composition
The active substance is olopatadine.
1 ml of solution contains 1 mg of olopatadine in the form of hydrochloride.
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, disodium phosphate anhydrous, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment), water for injections.
- Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is applied topically, by instillation into the conjunctival sac. Before using Oftahist drops, remove contact lenses and wait 15 minutes after applying the medicine before reinserting them. The recommended dosage of Oftahist for adults is 1 drop in the eye or eyes 2 times a day with at least an 8-hour break. If there is no improvement or if symptoms worsen within three days of starting to use the medicine, consult a doctor. The duration of treatment is up to two weeks. If necessary, treatment can be continued for up to four months after consulting a doctor. The medicine should not be used for longer than 4 months.
