ESTROFEM 2MG TBL FLM 28 Stk (Estradiol)

Indications
Estrogen deficiency during menopause or after gynecological operations, relief of menopausal symptoms.
Contraindications
Hormone-dependent tumors (breast or endometrial carcinoma); acute or chronic liver diseases (including a history), deep vein thrombosis, thromboembolism, cerebrovascular accidents (including a history), uterine bleeding of unknown etiology, porphyria.
Use during pregnancy and lactation breastfeeding
Contraindicated during pregnancy.

Method of administration and dosage
Orally, 1 tablet. Once a day, every day without breaks. Treatment of women with a removed uterus or postmenopausal women can begin on any day. If the menstrual cycle is preserved, the first tablet is taken on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle.

Side effects
In the first months of treatment: soreness of the mammary glands. Women with a healthy uterus may experience discharge and/or uterine bleeding. Rarely — nausea, swelling, headache. With continued treatment, these phenomena resolve on their own and do not require discontinuation.

Precautions
If altered or irregular menstrual flow appears, diagnostic curettage is necessary to exclude malignant neoplasms of the uterus. During long-term treatment, it is recommended to carry out preventive examinations at least once a year. It should be borne in mind that long-term monotherapy increases the risk of developing endometrial cancer with a preserved uterus (the risk depends on both the duration of treatment and the dose of the drug). When low doses of estrogen were used for a short period, there was no increase in the incidence of breast cancer. Before starting treatment, a thorough medical examination is mandatory, especially in women who have previously been or are currently on estrogen. Patients taking antihypertensive drugs, suffering from epilepsy, migraine, diabetes mellitus, bronchial asthma or heart failure should be under regular medical supervision. Treatment should be stopped in case of deep vein thrombosis, thromboembolic disorders, the appearance of jaundice, increased migraine pain, sudden blurred vision, a significant increase in blood pressure, and also 4-6 weeks before planned surgery.
