Dosage

The drug is administered orally at the same time with the tablet with water, regardless of the meal. The usual dosage of Juvinelle is 1 tablet per day.

Action

Juvinelle is hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The tablets contain two active substances. One is estrogen, and the other is dienogest, which is a synthetic progestogen. It works by increasing the levels of estrogen and progestogen in the body after the menopause.

Indications

Juvinelle is indicated for use in postmenopausal women with at least 12 months since their last natural period. The drug relieves symptoms that appear after menopause.

Contraindications

You should not use Juvinelle if you have or are suspected of having or have breast cancer, or if you have a cancer that is sensitive to oestrogens, such as cancer of the lining of the womb (endometrium), or if you are suspected of having it. The drug is also contraindicated in: vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, untreated excessive thickening of the lining of the womb (endometrial hyperplasia), venous thromboembolism (thrombosis of deep veins, e.g. of the legs or lungs, e.g. pulmonary embolism), blood clotting (such as protein C, protein S, or antithrombin deficiency), diseases caused by arterial clots, for example, myocardial infarction, stroke or angina, liver disease, porphyria. Do not use in people who are hypersensitive to estrogens, progestogens or any of the other ingredients of this drug.

Wskazania

Lek Juvinelle jest wskazany do stosowania u kobiet po menopauzie, u których upłynęło co najmniej 12 miesięcy od wystąpienia ostatniej naturalnej miesiączki. Lek łagodzi objawy jakie pojawiają się po menopauzie.

Przeciwwskazania

Nie należy stosować leku Juvinelle, jeżeli pacjentka choruje obecnie lub chorowała na nowotwór piersi, lub jeśli występuje jego podejrzenie albo choruje na nowotwór złośliwy wrażliwy na działanie estrogenów, jak na przykład nowotwór błony śluzowej macicy (endometrium), lub jeśli występuje jego podejrzenie. Przeciwwskazaniem do zastosowania leku jest również: krwawienie z pochwy o nieznanej przyczynie, nieleczone nadmierne pogrubienie błony śluzowej macicy (hiperplazja endometrium), żylna choroba zakrzepowo-zatorowa (zakrzepica żył głębokich, np. kończyn dolnych lub płuc, np. zator tętnicy płucnej), zaburzenia krzepnięcia krwi (takie jak niedobór białka C, białka S lub antytrombiny), choroby spowodowane zakrzepami tętnic, na przykład zawał mięśnia sercowego, udar mózgu lub dławicę piersiową, choroba wątroby, porfiria. Nie stosować u osób z nadwrażliwością na estrogeny, progestageny lub którykolwiek z pozostałych składników tego leku.
