contraindication
The drug must not be taken
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to dihydrocodeine and its salts or any of the other ingredients of the medicine,
if you suffer from attacks of shortness of breath (bronchial asthma),
if you have functional breathing difficulties (respiratory insufficiency) or breathing difficulties (respiratory depression),
if you have an acute asthma attack,
if you have a chronic cough, e.g. B. can be a warning sign of the onset of bronchial asthma. This is particularly important for children.
if you are unconscious (coma),
if you are about to give birth,
if you have been diagnosed with a risk of premature birth,
during breastfeeding,
by children under 4 years of age.
Dosing of Paracodin
Always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following dosage applies depending on the severity of the symptoms:
Children 4 — 6 years: 4 — 8 drops, equivalent to 2 — 4 mg dihydrocodeine thiocyanate, 3 times a day
Children 6 — 12 years: 8 — 16 drops, equivalent to 4 — 8 mg dihydrocodeine thiocyanate, 3 times a day
Adolescents from 12 years and adults: 16 — 48 drops, equivalent to 8 — 24 mg dihydrocodeine thiocyanate, 3 times a day
The excretion (elimination) of dihydrocodeine is slower in elderly patients, in patients with severely reduced kidney function (end-stage renal failure) and in dialysis patients; therefore, the dosing interval (time interval between two doses) should be extended.
At the beginning of treatment, your response to the drug should be checked in order to be able to quickly identify any relative overdoses. This applies in particular to elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function and respiratory disorders (risk of fluid accumulation in the lungs).

Es wird angewendet:
zur Kurzzeitanwendung: zur symptomatischen Behandlung des Reizhustens (unproduktiver Husten).
Kontraindikation
Das Arzneimittel darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie überempfindlich (allergisch) gegen Dihydrocodein und dessen Salze oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile des Arzneimittels sind,
wenn Sie an anfallweise auftretender Atemnot (Asthma bronchiale) leiden,
wenn Sie eine funktionelle Atemschwäche (Ateminsuffizienz) oder Atemhemmung (Atemdepression) haben,
wenn Sie einen akuten Asthmaanfall erleiden,
wenn Sie einen chronischen Husten haben, der z. B. ein Warnzeichen für ein beginnendes Asthma bronchiale sein kann. Insbesondere ist darauf bei Kindern zu achten.
bei Bewusstlosigkeit (Koma),
wenn Sie kurz vor der Niederkunft stehen,
wenn bei Ihnen eine drohende Frühgeburt festgestellt wurde,
während der Stillzeit,
von Kindern unter 4 Jahren.
Dosierung von Paracodin
Nehmen Sie das Arzneimittel immer genau nach der Anweisung des Arztes ein. Bitte fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht ganz sicher sind.
Falls vom Arzt nicht anders verordnet, ist die übliche Dosis:

Soweit vom Arzt nicht anders verordnet, gilt je nach Stärke der Beschwerden folgende Dosierung:
Kinder 4 — 6 Jahre: 4 — 8 Tropfen, entsprechend 2- 4 mg Dihydrocodeinthiocyanat, 3-mal täglich
Kinder 6 — 12 Jahre: 8 — 16 Tropfen, entsprechend 4 — 8 mg Dihydrocodeinthiocyanat, 3-mal täglich
Jugendliche ab 12 Jahren und Erwachsene: 16 — 48 Tropfen, entsprechend 8 — 24 mg Dihydrocodeinthiocyanat, 3-mal täglich
Bei älteren Patienten, bei Patienten mit stark eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion (terminaler Niereninsuffizienz) und bei Dialysepatienten ist die Ausscheidung (Elimination) von Dihydrocodein verlangsamt; daher soll das Dosierungsintervall (zeitlicher Abstand zwischen zwei Einnahmen) verlängert werden.
Zu Beginn der Behandlung sollte Ihr Ansprechen auf das Medikament kontrolliert werden, um eventuelle relative Überdosierungen schnell erkennen zu können. Dies gilt insbesondere für ältere Patienten, bei eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion und bei Atemfunktionsstörungen (Gefahr einer Ansammlung von Flüssigkeit in der Lunge).
