indication

The medicine contains clopidogrel and belongs to a group of medicines called platelet inhibitors. Platelets are very small blood cells that clump together during the formation of a blood clot. Platelet inhibitors prevent this clumping, thereby reducing the risk of blood clots forming (a process called thrombosis).
The drug is taken by adults to prevent the formation of blood clots (thrombi) in hardened blood vessels (arteries), a process called atherothrombosis, which can lead to atherothrombotic events such as stroke, heart attack or death.
You have been prescribed the medicine to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of these serious events happening because:
You have hardened arteries (known as atherosclerosis), and
you have had a heart attack, stroke, or have a condition called peripheral arterial disease, or
You have had an episode of severe chest pain known as unstable angina or a heart attack. To treat this, your doctor may have placed a stent in your blocked or narrowed artery to help restore blood flow. You may also be given acetylsalicylic acid (an active ingredient in many medicines, both to relieve pain and fever and to prevent blood clots) have been prescribed by your doctor.
You have had symptoms of a stroke that went away quickly (also known as a transient ischemic attack) or a mild ischemic stroke. Your doctor may have given you additional acetylsalicylic acid for the first 24 hours.
You have an irregular heartbeat, a condition called atrial fibrillation, and cannot take medicines called oral anticoagulants (vitamin K antagonists), which prevent new blood clots from forming and existing blood clots from growing.
They should have been advised that oral anticoagulants are more effective than ASA or a combination of ASA and clopidogrel for this condition.
Your doctor should have prescribed clopidogrel plus ASA if you cannot take oral anticoagulants and are not at risk of severe bleeding.

contraindication

Clopidogrel should not be taken
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to clopidogrel or any of the other ingredients
if you have an acute bleeding, for example caused by a stomach ulcer or bleeding in the brain,
if you suffer from severe liver disease.
If you think you may have any of these conditions, or if you are unsure about them, please consult your doctor before you start taking clopidogrel.

Dosage of Plavix

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose, including for patients with a condition called atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat), is one 75 mg tablet once a day, taken with or without food, at the same time each day.
If you have had an episode of severe chest pain (unstable angina or heart attack), your doctor may give you 300 mg or 600 mg (1 or 2 tablets of 300 mg or 4 or 8 tablets of 75 mg) once at the start of treatment. Thereafter, the recommended dose is one 75 mg tablet once a day as above.
If you have symptoms of a stroke that go away quickly (also known as a transient ischemic attack) or a mild ischemic stroke, your doctor may prescribe 300 mg (1 tablet of 300 mg or 4 tablets of 75 mg) give once at the beginning of treatment. Thereafter, the recommended dose is one 75 mg tablet once daily as above with acetylsalicylic acid for 3 weeks. After that, your doctor would prescribe you either just this medicine or just acetylsalicylic acid.

Indikation

Das Arzneimittel enthalt Clopidogrel und gehort zu einer Gruppe von Arzneimitteln, die als Plattchenhemmer bezeichnet werden. Blutplattchen sind sehr kleine Blutzellen, die sich wahrend der Bildung eines Blutpfropfs zusammenklumpen. Plattchenhemmer verhindern dieses Zusammenklumpen und verringern auf diese Weise das Risiko der Entstehung von Blutgerinnseln (ein Vorgang, der Thrombose genannt wird).
Das Praparat wird von Erwachsenen eingenommen, um die Bildung von Blutgerinnseln (Thromben) in „verkalkten Blutgefa?en (Arterien) zu verhindern, ein Vorgang, der Atherothrombose genannt wird und zu atherothrombotischen Ereignissen, wie beispielsweise Schlaganfall, Herzinfarkt oder Tod, fuhren kann.
Sie haben das Arzneimittel zur Verhinderung von Blutgerinnseln und zur Verringerung des Risikos fur das Auftreten dieser schweren Ereignisse aus folgenden Grunden verschrieben bekommen:
Sie haben verkalkte Arterien (bekannt als Arteriosklerose), und
Sie haben einen Herzinfarkt oder einen Schlaganfall erlitten bzw. leiden unter einer Krankheit, die als periphere arterielle Verschlusskrankheit bezeichnet wird, oder
Sie hatten eine Episode mit starkem Brustschmerz, bekannt als „instabile Angina oder Herzinfarkt. Um dies zu behandeln, kann Ihnen Ihr Arzt eine Gefa?stutze (Stent) in die verschlossene oder verengte Arterie eingesetzt haben, um den Blutfluss wiederher zustellen. Ihnen kann zusatzlich Acetylsalicylsaure (ein Wirkstoff, der in vielen Arzneimitteln sowohl als schmerzstillendes und fiebersenkendes Mittel als auch zur Verhinderung von Blutgerinnseln enthalten ist) von Ihrem Arzt verschrieben worden sein.
Bei Ihnen sind Symptome eines Schlaganfalls, die innerhalb kurzer Zeit wieder verschwunden sind (auch als transitorische ischamische Attacke bekannt), oder ein leichter ischamischer Schlaganfall aufgetreten. Ihnen kann ab den ersten 24 Stunden zusatzlich Acetylsalicylsaure von Ihrem Arzt gegeben worden sein.
Sie haben einen unregelma?igen Herzschlag, eine Krankheit, die man Vorhofflimmern nennt, und konnen keine Arzneimittel einnehmen, die man als „orale Antikoagulanzien (Vitamin-K-Antagonisten) bezeichnet, die verhindern, dass sich neue Blutgerinnsel bilden und bestehende Blutgerinnsel wachsen.
Sie sollten darauf hingewiesen worden sein, dass bei dieser Krankheit „orale Antikoagulanzien wirksamer sind als ASS oder eine Kombination von ASS und Clopidogrel.
Ihr Arzt sollte Ihnen Clopidogrel plus ASS verschrieben haben, wenn Sie keine „oralen Antikoagulanzien einnehmen konnen und kein Risiko fur schwere Blutungen haben.

Kontraindikation

Clopidogrel darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie allergisch (uberempflindlich) gegen Clopidogrel oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile sind,
wenn Sie eine akute Blutung haben, beispielsweise verursacht durch ein Magengeschwur oder eine Hirnblutung,
wenn Sie an einer schweren Lebererkrankung leiden.
Falls Sie glauben, dass einer dieser Zustande bei Ihnen vorliegen konnte, oder falls Sie diesbezuglich unsicher sind, suchen Sie bitte Ihren Arzt auf, bevor Sie mit der Einnahme von Clopidogrel beginnen.

Dosierung von Plavix

Nehmen Sie dieses Arzneimittel immer genau nach Absprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker ein. Fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht sicher sind.

Anschlie?end ist die empfohlene Dosis einmal taglich eine 75-mg-Tablette wie oben beschrieben.
