- Composition The active substances of the drug are paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride, guaifenesin. One capsule contains 500 mg of paracetamol, 6.1 mg of phenylephrine hydrochloride (equivalent to 5 mg of phenylephrine base) and 100 mg of guaifenesin. The other ingredients are: croscarmellose sodium, corn starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc and magnesium stearate. Capsule shell contains: gelatin, purified water, indigotine (E132), quinoline yellow (E104), sodium lauryl sulfate, erythrosine (E127) Dosage For adults, the elderly and adolescents aged 16 years and over weighing 50 kg or more: Take 2 capsules with water every 4 to 6 hours, as needed. Do not take more than 6 capsules (3 doses of 2 capsules) per day (equivalent to 3000 mg paracetamol, 36.6 mg phenylephrine hydrochloride and 600 mg guaifenesin). Do not use this medicine for more than 3 days. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist for more than 3 days or become more severe, or if your cough is accompanied by a high fever, a skin rash or a persistent headache. Contraindications Do not use Theraflu TOTAL GRIP: if you are allergic to any of the ingredients; if you have heart disease or high blood pressure (hypertension); if you have diabetes; if you have an overactive thyroid; if you have closed-angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye); if you have a pheochromocytoma (a type of tumor of the adrenal glands – glands located near the kidneys).
