- The tablets contain terbinafine as the active ingredient. Terbinafine belongs to the group of active ingredients used against fungal infections (antimycotics). The tablets are administered orally (by mouth).
- The medicine is used for:
- Fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails. In certain cases of mixed infections of the nails with yeast, an attempt at treatment is indicated;
- severe fungal infections of the feet (tinea pedis) and the body (tinea corporis and tinea cruris), which cannot be adequately treated externally.
- Notes
- Unlike topical terbinafine, terbinafine tablets are not effective against yeast infections (candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor [also known as tinea versicolor]) of the skin.
- To confirm the diagnosis, your doctor may take appropriate skin or nail samples for laboratory tests before starting treatment with Terbinafine tablets.
