INUPRIN contains the active substance inosine pranobex , which has antiviral and immune system stimulating effects.
Indications
INUPRIN is indicated for :
– as a supporting agent in people with reduced immunity, in case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections,
– for the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus. The drug can only be used in patients who have previously been diagnosed with a herpes simplex infection.
Dosage
The recommended dose is based on the patient’s body weight. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day.
Adults, including the elderly (over 65 years old)
The recommended daily dose is 50 mg/kg body weight per day, the usual daily dose is 6 tablets (3 g) per day (i.e. 2 tablets 3 times per day). The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets (4 g) per day (i.e. 2 tablets 4 times per day).
Children over 1 year of age
The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg of body weight per day, given in several divided doses. For children who cannot swallow tablets, it is recommended to administer INUPRIN in syrup.
Method of administration
The medicine should be taken orally. The tablet should be taken with a sufficient amount of liquid, preferably water. If you have difficulty swallowing the whole tablet, to make it easier to take the medicine, the tablets can be crushed and dissolved in a small amount of liquid.
Duration of treatment
The usual duration of treatment is 5 to 14 days. After the symptoms have subsided, the drug should be continued for another 1 to 2 days.
Warnings
INUPRIN should not be used :
– if you are allergic to inosine pranobex or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
– if you are currently experiencing a gout attack (severe joint pain with swelling and redness of the skin or effusion in large joints) or tests have shown increased levels of uric acid in your blood.
