dosage

Basic unit: 10 ml ready-to-use 10% solution contains 1.063 g ampicillin sodium (equivalent to 1.0 g ampicillin and 2.86 mmol sodium)

Treatment of infections caused by pathogens susceptible to ampicillin
The dose depends on the age, weight and kidney function of the patient, the severity and location of the infection and suspected or proven pathogens
Adults, teenagers and children (>= 6 years)
Daily dose: 1.5 – 6 g ampicillin
Dose increase up to 15 g ampicillin / day and more possible
Children (< 6 years)
Daily dose: 100 mg ampicillin / kg body weight
in exceptional cases and in meningitis: 200 – 400 mg ampicillin/kg body weight
dose interval
2 times / day at 12-hour intervals
3 times a day at 8-hour intervals
4 times/day at 6-hour intervals
duration of treatment
depending on the course of the disease
usually 7 – 10 days
at least for 2 – 3 days after the symptoms of the disease have subsided
Treatment of beta-hemolytic streptococcal infections
at least 10 days (prevention of late complications)
Severely impaired renal function (GFR <= 30 ml / min.)

Behandlung von durch Ampicillin-empfindliche Erreger verursachte Infektionen
Höhe der Dosis abhängig von Alter, Gewicht und Nierenfunktion des Patienten, vom Schweregrad und Ort der Infektion sowie von vermuteten oder nachgewiesenen Erregern
Erwachsene, Jugendliche und Kinder (>= 6 Jahre)
Tagesdosis: 1,5 – 6 g Ampicillin
Dosissteigerung bis zu 15 g Ampicillin / Tag und darüber möglich
Kinder (< 6 Jahre)
Tagesdosis: 100 mg Ampicillin / kg KG
in Ausnahmefällen und bei Meningitits: 200 – 400 mg Ampicillin / kg KG

2mal / Tag in 12stündigen Abständen
3mal / Tag in 8stündigen Abständen
4mal / Tag in 6stündigen Abständen
