• DESCRIPTION:

Braunol (povidone-iodine aqueous solution) is a universal preparation, characterized by the widest spectrum of microbicidal effectiveness, intended for antiseptic procedures in hospital, outpatient and home conditions.

The drug contains the active substance povidone-iodine with 10% iodine content.

• INDICATIONS:

Braunol is indicated:

• For single use: Disinfection of intact external skin and antisepsis of mucous membranes, e.g. before surgery, biopsy, injections, puncture, blood sampling and catheterization.
  For repeated use, limited in time: Antisepsis of wounds (e.g. pressure sores, leg ulcers), burns, skin diseases with infection and superinfection. Hygienic and surgical hand disinfection
  DOSE:

Only for skin and mucous membranes.

Braunol is intended for external use in both diluted and undiluted form.

The treated area should be completely moistened with Braunol. The antiseptic film that forms after the drug dries can be easily washed off with water. Braunol should be used undiluted for skin disinfection procedures and as an antiseptic for mucous membranes, before surgical procedures, biopsies, injections, punctures, blood sampling and catheterization. In cases of disinfection of a skin fragment with a small number of sebaceous glands, the time required for effective disinfection is at least 15 seconds, and in the case of a larger number of sebaceous glands – at least 10 minutes. The skin should be moistened with the undiluted solution at all times. When using Braunol for preoperative skin disinfection, care should be taken to ensure that the solution does not accumulate under the patient, as this may cause skin irritation.

The solution should be used for disinfection of the skin of the hands in undiluted form.

In hygienic hand skin disinfection procedures, rub 3 ml of the solution into the skin of the hands for 1 minute. Then wash your hands. In surgical hand skin disinfection procedures, rub 5 ml of the solution into the skin of the hands twice for 5 minutes. The skin should be moistened with undiluted solution at all times.

For antiseptic treatment of superficial wounds, use Braunol in undiluted form.

For antiseptic treatment of burns, Braunol should usually be used in undiluted form. Braunol in diluted form can be used for antiseptic rinsing, washing and soaking.

The following proportions should be used when diluting the drug:

Rinsing, as one of the stages of the wound healing process (e.g. pressure sores, leg ulcers, gangrene) and for perioperative infection prevention – from 1:2 to 1:20
Antiseptic washing – from 1:2 to 1:25
Antiseptic soaking of the limb: about 1:25
Antiseptic soaking of the body, about 1:100
Running tap water can be used for dilution. If an isotonic preparation is required, physiological saline or Ringer’s solution should be used for dilution.

The preparation should be diluted immediately before use.

In the case of antiseptic washing of the entire body, first fill the bathtub with water and then add the required volume of Braunol. This will prevent the release of iodine-containing vapors, which can stain nearby objects yellow. A brown color indicates the effectiveness of the drug. A noticeable loss of color indicates a loss of its effectiveness.
