- in arrhythmias and hyperactivity of the heart – especially in the context of magnesium and potassium deficiency

- in post-infarction convalescence
- after infectious diseases or surgical procedures that caused a decrease in magnesium and potassium levels
- as a drug counteracting the undesirable effects of long-term use of cardiac glycosides and diuretics (e.g. thiazides, furosedmide)
