Duration of treatment
In acute infections, Bactrim should be given for at least 5 days or until the patient has been symptom-free for 2 days. If after 7 days of therapy there is no clinical improvement, the patient’s condition should be re-evaluated for possible correction of treatment.
Dosing in special cases
Chancroid. 4 measuring spoons of suspension 2 times a day. If after 7 days the healing of the skin element does not occur, you can extend the therapy for another 7 days. However, it should be borne in mind that the lack of effect may indicate the resistance of the pathogen.
Acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections. For women with acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections, a single dose of 8-12 measuring spoons of the suspension is recommended. If possible, they should be taken in the evening after meals or before going to bed.
Patients on hemodialysis. After taking the usual loading dose, subsequent doses should be half or a third of the standard and administered every 24-48 hours.
Pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis carinii. Up to 20 mg / kg / day of trimethoprim and up to 100 mg / kg / day of sulfamethoxazole, divided into equal doses, every 6 hours for 14 days.

Bei akuten Infektionen sollte Bactrim mindestens 5 Tage lang gegeben werden oder bis der Patient 2 Tage lang symptomfrei war. Wenn nach 7 Tagen Therapie keine klinische Besserung eintritt, sollte der Zustand des Patienten im Hinblick auf eine mögliche Korrektur der Behandlung erneut beurteilt werden.
Dosierung in besonderen Fällen
Schanker. 4 Messlöffel Suspension 2 mal täglich. Wenn nach 7 Tagen keine Heilung des Hautelements eintritt, können Sie die Therapie um weitere 7 Tage verlängern. Allerdings ist zu bedenken, dass die fehlende Wirkung auf eine Resistenz des Erregers hindeuten kann.
Akute unkomplizierte Harnwegsinfektionen. Für Frauen mit akuten unkomplizierten Harnwegsinfektionen wird eine Einzeldosis von 8-12 Messlöffeln der Suspension empfohlen. Sie sollten möglichst abends nach den Mahlzeiten oder vor dem Schlafengehen eingenommen werden.
Patienten unter Hämodialyse. Nach Einnahme der üblichen Aufsättigungsdosis sollten die Folgedosen die Hälfte oder ein Drittel der Standarddosis betragen und alle 24-48 Stunden verabreicht werden.
Lungenentzündung, verursacht durch Pneumocystis carinii. Bis zu 20 mg/kg/Tag Trimethoprim und bis zu 100 mg/kg/Tag Sulfamethoxazol, aufgeteilt in gleiche Dosen, alle 6 Stunden für 14 Tage.
