indication

Acitretin, the active ingredient in the medicine, belongs to the class of retinoids, which are structurally related to vitamin A.
The drug is used for the symptomatic treatment of the most severe keratinization disorders of the skin organ that cannot be treated with conventional therapy, such as
Psoriasis vulgaris, especially erythrodermal and pustular forms)
pathological thickening of the horny layer on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet (hyperkeratosis palmoplantaris)
pathological formation of pus on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet (pustulosis palmoplantaris)
Fish scale disease (ichthyosis)
Darier’s disease (Darier’s disease)
prickly lichen (Pityriasis rubra pilaris)
flat lichen planus (lichen planus) of the skin and mucous membranes.
The drug should only be prescribed by physicians, preferably dermatologists, who have experience in treatment with systemic retinoids and who correctly assess the teratogenic risk of the preparation.
contraindication
The drug must not be taken
if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
if there is any possibility that you may become pregnant, you must follow the precautions under Pregnancy Prevention Program, see the Patient Notice category.
if you are allergic to acitretin, other retinoids or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
if you have severe liver problems.
if you have severe kidney problems.
if you have very high levels of fats (lipids) in your blood.
if you are taking medicines such as tetracyclines (for infections) or methotrexate (for skin problems, joint inflammation (arthritis) or cancer) (see under the category Interactions).
if you are taking vitamin A or other retinoid medicines (such as isotretinoin) (see under Interactions category).

Dosage of Neotigason

Always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
The dosage depends on the appearance of the disease and the tolerability of the preparation. It must be determined individually for each patient by the attending physician. The following information can be used as a guide.
Use in adults
The recommended starting daily dose is 25 mg (other strengths are available for this dosage) to 30 mg acitretin (3 capsules) for 2 to 4 weeks. This dose can already give satisfactory results. The maintenance dose should be adjusted to the therapeutic result and tolerability. In general, a daily dose of 25 – 50 mg acitretin enables an optimal therapy result to be achieved for a further 6 to 8 weeks. However, in some cases it may be necessary to increase the dose up to a maximum of 75 mg acitretin per day (other strengths are available for this dose). This maximum dose should not be exceeded.

Indikation

Acitretin, der Wirkstoff des Arzneimittels, gehört zur Stoffklasse der Retinoide, die ihre Struktur nach mit Vitamin A verwandt sind.
Das Arzneimittel wird angewendet zur symptomatischen Behandlung von schwersten, einer herkömmlichen Therapie nicht zugänglichen Verhornungsstörungen des Hautorgans wie
Schuppenflechte (Psoriasis vulgaris, vor allem erythrodermatische und pustulöse Formen)
krankhafte Verdickung der Hornschicht an Handflächen und Fußsohlen (Hyperkeratosis palmoplantaris)
krankhafte Pustenbildung an Handflächen und Fußsohlen (Pustulosis palmoplantaris)
Fischschuppenkrankheit (Ichthyosis)
Darier´sche Krankheit (Morbus Darier)
Stachelflechte (Pityriasis rubra pilaris)
flache Knötchenflechten (Lichen ruber planus) der Haut und Schleimhäute.
Das Arzneimittel sollte nur von Ärzten, vorzugsweise von Dermatologen, verschrieben werden, die Erfahrung in der Behandlung mit systemischen Retinoiden haben und die das teratogene Risiko durch das Präparat richtig einschätzen.
Kontraindikation
Das Arzneimittel darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie schwanger sind oder stillen.
wenn irgendeine Möglichkeit besteht, dass Sie schwanger werden können, müssen Sie die Vorsichtsmaßnahmen unter Schwangerschaftsverhütungsprogramm befolgen, siehe Kategorie Patientenhinweis.
wenn Sie allergisch gegen Acitretin, andere Retinoide oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile dieses Arzneimittels sind.
wenn Sie schwere Leberprobleme haben.
wenn Sie schwere Nierenprobleme haben.
wenn Ihre Blutfettwerte (Lipide) sehr hoch sind.
wenn Sie Arzneimittel wie Tetrazykline (gegen Infektionen) oder Methotrexat (gegen Hautprobleme, Gelenkentzündung (Arthritis) oder Krebs) einnehmen (siehe unter Kategorie Wechselwirkungen).
wenn Sie Vitamin A oder andere Retinoid-Arzneimittel (wie Isotretinoin) einnehmen (siehe unter Kategorie Wechselwirkungen).

Dosierung von Neotigason

Nehmen Sie das Arzneimittel immer genau nach Absprache mit Ihrem Arzt ein. Fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht sicher sind.

Die Dosierung richtet sich nach dem Erscheinungsbild der Erkrankung und der Verträglichkeit des Präparates. Sie muss vom behandelnden Arzt für jeden Patienten individuell bestimmt werden. Die nachfolgenden Angaben können als Orientierung gelten.
Anwendung bei Erwachsenen
Als anfängliche Tagesdosis werden 25 mg (für diese Dosierung stehen andere Wirkstärken zur Verfügung) bis 30 mg Acitretin (3 Kapseln) während 2 bis 4 Wochen empfohlen. Diese Dosis kann bereits zu zufriedenstellenden Ergebnissen führen. Die Erhaltungsdosis ist dem therapeutischen Ergebnis und der Verträglichkeit anzupassen. Im Allgemeinen ermöglicht eine Tagesdosis von 25 – 50 mg Acitretin für weitere 6 bis 8 Wochen ein optimales Therapieergebnis zu erreichen. Es kann jedoch in einigen Fällen notwendig sein, die Dosis bis zu einem Maximum von 75 mg Acitretin pro Tag (für diese Dosierung stehen andere Wirkstärken zur Verfügung) zu steigern. Diese Höchstdosis sollte nicht überschritten werden.
