- The over-the-counter drug Oktaseptal contains two active substances: octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol.
The drug has bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal effects.
The effect of Oktaseptal occurs one minute after application and lasts for about an hour.
- Octenidine dihydrochloride works on the surface of the wound and skin. Phenoxyethanol complements the range of action of octenidine dihydrochloride by penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin and mucous membranes.
Oktaseptal, composition:
The active substances are: octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol.
100 g of skin spray contains 0.10 g of octenidine dihydrochloride and 2 g of phenoxyethanol.
- Excipients: glycerol 85%, sodium D-gluconate, cocamidopropyl betaine 30%, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
- Indications:
The drug Oktaseptal® has a bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal effect. It is intended for use on not very extensive wounds and for repeated short-term antiseptic treatment of mucous membranes and adjacent tissues before diagnostic procedures and before and after minor surgical procedures (e.g. in gynecology, urology, proctology, dermatology, geriatrics, venereology, obstetrics, dentistry, etc.):
for antiseptic treatment of not very extensive wounds and disinfection of skin and mucous membranes,
for disinfection of the oral cavity, e.g. in the case of aphthae, irritation caused by wearing an orthodontic appliance or dental prosthesis,
in the preparation of minor burn and ulcerative wounds,
in the care of not extensive post-operative wounds and sutures,
before and after diagnostic tests in the area of female and male genitalia, including the vagina, vulva, glans penis,
in activities before, during and after childbirth (including for the care of the perineum after its incision during childbirth – episiotomy),
before and after diagnostic procedures in the anus,
before and after bladder catheterization,
before artificial insemination procedures,
in pediatrics (including for care of the umbilical stump),
for time-limited supportive antiseptic treatment of interdigital mycosis.
