Description
Acodin Duo is a drug used in case of dry cough. It inhibits the cough reflex and accelerates the regeneration of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. The drug acts symptomatically.
Composition
The active substances of the drug are dextromethorphan hydrobromide (Dextromethorphani hydrobromidum) and dexpanthenol (Dexpanthenolum).
5 ml of syrup contains 15 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide and 50 mg of dexpanthenol.
Excipients: sodium carmellose, glycerin, sucrose, sodium benzoate, food caramel, citric acid, food raspberry essence, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
5 ml of syrup up to 4 times a day.
The syrup bottle is equipped with a measuring cup for dosing the medicine.
Action
The action of Acodin Duo results from two components: dextromethorphan and dexpanthenol.
Dextromethorphan inhibits the cough center located in the medulla oblongata. In the doses used, it does not inhibit the functioning of the ciliary apparatus of the bronchi (the structure responsible for the transport of secreted mucus).
Dexpanthenol, through its participation in metabolic processes, has a positive effect on the regeneration of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
