Maalox is a complex drug that neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in gastric juice, and thus limits its harmful effects on the walls of the digestive tract. It relieves unpleasant symptoms, such as heartburn and acid reflux into the esophagus, and has a protective effect on the mucous membrane of the walls of the stomach and duodenum thanks to its astringent properties.
Maalox does not significantly affect the digestive processes occurring in the gastrointestinal tract – it does not cause excessive neutralization of food content or secondary stimulation of hydrochloric acid secretion.
The preparation is recommended for the symptomatic treatment of ailments caused by hyperacidity.
