Levocetirizine Genericon is a so-called antihistamine used to treat allergies and their consequences.
Levocetirizine Genericon is used in adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age for the treatment of.
allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis), urticaria (hives).
Patients with kidney and liver disease.
If you have impaired kidney and/or liver function, take Levocetirizine Genericon only after consulting a doctor.
Patients with impaired kidney function may receive a lower dose, which depends on the severity of kidney disease, and in children – also on body weight.
Patients with severe renal failure should not take Levocetirizine Genericon.
Patients with liver disease only are recommended to take the usual dose.
Patients with both liver and kidney disease may receive a lower dose, which depends on the severity of kidney disease, and in children – also on body weight.
Elderly patients aged 65 years and over.
No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients with normal renal function.
Use in children.
Levocetirizine Genericon film-coated tablets are not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age.
Take Levocetirizine Genericon whole with liquid. It can be taken with or without food.
The length of treatment depends on the type, duration, and progression of symptoms.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Dry mouth, headache, tiredness, drowsiness/fainting, stomach pain
Palpitations, fast/racing heartbeat
Convulsions, tingling, dizziness, sudden loss of consciousness, muscle pain, joint pain
Aggressive or excited behavior
Seeing or hearing unreal things (hallucinations), depression, insomnia, frequent thoughts or fears of suicide, nightmares.
Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), abnormal liver function tests.
Vomiting, increased appetite, nausea and diarrhea.
Pruritus (severe itching) after stopping treatment.
The active substance is levocetirizine dihydrochloride. 1 film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride, which is equivalent to 4.2 mg levocetirizine.
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 400.
